Our institution’s founder and honorary president, Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, has been elected as an Honorary Member of TÜBA (Turkish Academy of Sciences) by the decision of the Academy Council dated January 20, 2024, considering his academic studies and distinguished scientific contributions. TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker presented the membership certificate to Prof. Dr. İhsanoğlu in a ceremony held in Istanbul. President Şeker expressed his honor in presenting the certificate, emphasizing the significant value of Prof. İhsanoğlu’s extensive academic work and contributions to science, particularly in the field of the history of science on an international level.
The document presentation ceremony, hosted at the invitation of Prof. İhsanoğlu, was attended by TÜBA Council Members, including Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, the Rector of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University; Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çiçekler, Faculty Member at Istanbul Medeniyet University; Prof. Dr. Feridun Emecen, Faculty Member at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University; Presidential Advisor Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç; and Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, the Rector of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ).
Within the scope of the TÜBA-Turkish-Islamic Science Culture Heritage (TİBKM) Project, Prof. İhsanoğlu’s works, including Gelibolulu Mustafa Âlî’s “Künhü’l-Ahbâr” on Madrasah and the Scholarly Community and “Kevâkib-i Seb‘a,” have been published under the auspices of the Presidency. Additionally, Prof. İhsanoğlu’s work titled “Tarih-i Silsile-i Ulema” will also meet readers within the TİBKM Project in the year 2024.
